The UC Davis Coffee Center needed a new packaging design for our coffee bags to better appeal to the UC Davis community and boost sales. Aggie Blend, Aggie Bold, and Aggie Bright come in 6-oz and 10-oz bags sold at the student store. I worked with the UC Davis Coffee Center to create original illustrations on each bag featuring Aggie icons and locations. The lineless illustrations created in Adobe Illustrator each capture a different aspect of campus life. Each unique coffee blend is designed around colors to highlight its own flavor characteristics, but they come together in a cohesive visual language.

The 6oz bags adapt the 10oz designs to fit, subtly editing the dimensions and arrangement of visual elements to work just as well in a different format.

More Bags!

I designed the in-progress Aggie Decaf Blend bag within the same visual system, this time basing the colors around a warm afternoon glow. These bags feature Cheeto the cat! An alternate version is included below, substituting my graduate horse with a graduate sheep.

I tried a couple of different sheep, but we ended up preferring the horse!

I have also designed sticker labels for coffee bags, including this specialty blend for the Middle Eastern Studies department anniversary featuring a legend about the discovery of coffee!

The ME/SA department wanted an anniversary label featuring a dancing goat, coffee berries, and the word "coffee" in all 6 languages they teach.

My design nods to the coffee-goat-legend and meets the brief within the visual system I established for the main coffee bags. Smaller label projects are a fun opportunity to play with the coffee center's now established look!

Coffee Center Posters

Like the 6 oz variants of the main coffee bags, these posters adapt the original illustrations for a new aspect ratio and product. These designs are made to scale, from small bags to large poster sizes!

Misc Projects

The designs I produced for UC Davis Coffee Bags also work well for posters and signage, like this coffee sale sign!

This work-in-progress event backdrop also uses existing assets, combining the elements and color schemes of all three main bags to represent the Coffee Center.

Picnic Day T-Shirt

I designed the UC Davis Coffee Center Picnic Day shirt for 2026 as a simple black-and-white graphic optimized for printing on a T-shirt. I chose to draw a cow struggling to balance coffee mugs on a unicycle to capture the Coffee Center’s Picnic Day spirit!

My process for this design is included below. I started with a few sketches to work out ideas and seek feedback.

Design Process

My graphic design process starts with sketches, where I work out different ideas, colors, and compositions. I present a few versions to meet each brief, receive and implement feedback, and move forward to refine the favorite or a combination of my best ideas. Below are a few sketches and ideas for current and future Coffee Center projects!

Social Media

ASUCD The Pantry Carousel

An unofficial project imagining what an Instagram carousel post promoting ASUCD The Pantry could look like. This post assumes an official ASUCD-associated instagram account, and abides by UC Davis brand guidelines and social media guidelines.

Logo Design

Google Doodle Contest

Screenshot 2026-07-28 at 10.41.29 PM.png

My submission to the 2023 Google Doodle Scholarship competition. The prompt was to create a "Google Doodle," a design that incorporates the "Google" logo used as the daily header for the browser, that shows what you are grateful for.

I was grateful for music. I used black-and-white line work against the colorful "Google" logo to ensure clarity and readability.
